Two Month Update

Well it's official, I can't get these updates posted on time. We're closer to his third month than his second (which was on September 17); however, I did take his pictures. Our days are full of swinging, singing, strolling and not a lot of sitting or sleeping, so please excuse my tardiness while we get the hang of this crazy schedule.

At Thomas' 2 month appointment he weighed 14 lbs, and measured 25 inches long landing him in the 99th percentile again. He got his shots which broke his mother's heart but we both rebounded by the next day.

Tommy is such a sweet boy. He's gotten over his 7-9 p.m. witching hours. We usually sail through that time now by playing on the play mat or starting his bedtime routine.  Sleep is still touch and go. Most nights Tommy sleeps from 9 p.m - 12:30 a.m., and then is up every 2 hours after that to nurse for about 15 minutes. It seems that once a week he gives us (let's be!) a reprieve by sleeping from 9 p.m. - 2:30 a.m. which feels AMAZING! I'm still in the habit of going to bed when he does so that solid 5.5 hours is what I live for!

This month I also made the decision to leave my job at Pitt to stay at home with Tommy. It was a very difficult decision but one that I feel very lucky to have made.

I've also decided to start writing my account of Thomas' crazy delivery and hospital stay. I wasn't keen on sharing it, but after seeing this article, I decided it's important to talk about. While my experience wasn't as horrific as some women in this article, it was unexpectedly emotionally traumatic and definitely nothing that was covered in my preparing for childbirth classes. I think writing about it will be cathartic but believe me, I haven't lost sight of the fact that I have a happy healthy baby and that's all that really matters in the end :)

 More to come soon!
