At long last, the fence is in and it looks mighty fine!
Lucy likes it too. Although, true to her mischievous ways, she continues to run the perimeter trying to find a way out. SUCKA! You aren’t getting out of these 6 foot walls!
We opted for the vinyl 6 foot privacy fence. Like I told you here, we are very close to our neighbors. I don’t mean in the sense that we’re BFFs (although they are very nice) I mean proximity-wise. We’re totally surrounded. One on either side, one behind us, and then one that is strangely positioned behind the house on our right side but before the house behind us. You don’t have to really understand anything except although dramatic, a 6 footer was necessary.
Installation only took a day since the installers could use many of the posts from our chain link fence and no major digging was required. When I came home from work, our backyard felt like an entirely different place. A very private, cheery, cottage-like place!
Check out this gate! We’re not messing around! Like the rest of the fence, it is 6 feet tall (5 feet of the privacy fencing and 1 foot of lattice). The gate can be locked from the inside making our backyard 100% secure. Not that we will probably ever do that, but the option is nice!
Now for the before and afters. Here’s the rundown of how the backyard looked during foreclosure, after we moved in, and now.
We’re really happy with the way it turned out. In the words of my neighbor, “we’re enjoying our containment.” My fear was that 6 foot walls would make the yard feel smaller, but quite the opposite, it feels roomier.
And to top it all off, this morning I spotted our very first bloom on the Magnolia!
Do you see it? It’s beautiful! I can’t wait for the rest to bloom! I am going to throw a party! You’re invited! That is if you can get through the fence.
Next up, making the back patio and pond area less scary! It’s this weekend’s project. After a little power washing, painting, and pond pump/filter install, we should be in business just in time to get our new outdoor dining table and chairs courtesy of MOM AND DAD! Truth be told, our house is where MK and War’s old furniture retires! It’s like Boca for hand-me-downs. I love it! Thanks Mom & Dad!
