Jay ran the last leg of the Pittsburgh Marathon relay a couple of weekends ago. I have to say, the entire event was really impressive! The marathon runners were impressive, the large scale event was impressive, and the beautiful day which made Pittsburgh look stunning was impressive! I’m really glad that I went downtown to take it all in. Here is a look back at the day.
Up bright and early to get to his starting corral.
We used the Fort Duquesne pedestrian bridge over the Allegheny River which connects the North Shore to Point State Park. From there, we had to high tail it to the US Steel Building so that Jay could board a bus that took him to his starting point near Bloomfield.
While I waited for Jay to run his 4.7 mile relay leg, I cheered for the runners neared the finish line. It was nice to lend a little support. I can only imagine running that far!
I am more in the camp of the runner in front of Jay. Running Sucks. But I secretly wish I was really good at it!
The continual shutter mode on my new camera really helped me capture the 3 seconds that I saw Jay running. This was the first large scale marathon that he has done and the first time he couldn’t hear me yelling for him. Oh well.
Luckily, I found him pretty quickly at Point State Park Finish Line festival at the Family Reunion stall.
He makes it look easy. Even in the past when he has completed his half marathon races. Makes me jealous.
We relaxed and listened to the festival concert for a while before we headed back over the bridge to the North Shore.
And in honor of Cinco de Mayo - we had a “Beer-rita” to celebrate! Pretty good day!
Congrats, Jay! I am very proud of you!
