Jay and I decided that the weekend was going to be full of projects. We had taken last weekend off to go to Indianapolis, so with a solid forecast we really needed to get serious about the backyard.
To begin, we mulched, we power washed, we weeded, and we hauled our new (my parents old) backyard furniture from their house to ours. With some elbow grease, it’s beginning to look less like a jungle and more like a real backyard! We were working so hard, that I forgot to take any pictures, but I’ll share some soon of the end result.
One of the last projects on our list is to paint the back patio which currently is a concrete slab.
I bought Rust-oleum Restore Deck and Concrete paint in Rattan. It’s suppose to seal cracks up to 1/4 inch and if that’s the case, this will give the back yard a boosts it needs. We’ll see how it turns out!
Amid the chores, we also found time to enjoy ourselves. We went out to dinner with friends at Vivo, a local favorite restaurant on Friday night. After we worked all day Saturday, we decided that we would clean ourselves up and go to the Waterfront in Homestead to catch a stand up show performed by a comedian we like, Greg Fitzsimmons, at the Pittsburgh Improv.
To my complete horror Greg decided to pick on me during his show. I should have known better to sit that close!! Thinking about it now still makes me blush and cover my face with my hands, much like I did on Saturday night. I literally wanted to slide under my table and make a dash for the exit! Admittedly, I do embarrass easily. Comics must really love when they spot one of those types in the audience! Anyway, it was still a really fun night and no, I am not going to tell you what he did to embarrass me. This is a PG blog!
Jay thought it was all VERY funny.
We also went exploring in the woods close to our house with Lu. Believe it or not, I saw it as an opportunity to take gratuitous pictures of the dog and scenery.
So that’s it. I’ll be back with more backyard updates. I should also be receiving my new (longer) drapes for the living room from West Elm today! Hooray! It’s the little things!
